Computer Hardware type games online for learning Computer Hardware?

I’m wondering if anyone knows of some computer hardware or anything computer related type games online. Like some visual guide game to help you learn the parts of computers and where things go and how they work. I’m a visual learner and I could easily take apart my computer but when I’m at school I can’t quite do that. If anyone knows of anything like this I would appreciate it

I don’t know of any games but see if you can acquire some A+ books as this will explain a lot about hardware.

In her sixth spellbinding adventure, Carlotta Carlyle, the 6’1″ redheaded P.I. from Boston, takes on a case that draws her into the mysterious shadova and of computer technology, where information is cheap, and privacy may be a thing of the past. Part-time cabbie Carlotta is entering the modern age of investigation. With the help of her sometime lover, mafioso, and computer-hobbyist Sam Gianelli, she invests in her first “hardware,” a cheap personal computer. And at the urging of her ex-boss, Boston Police Lt. Mooney, who decries the stopping power of her .38 S&W, she decides to upgrade her arsenal. Both types of hardware come in handy when Carlotta is hired by Gloria, owner of G&W Cab, to investigate the brutal robberies that are causing her cabbies to quit in record numbers, and the violence and unanswered questions escalate. An explosion rocks G&W, killing Gloria’s brother and seriously wounding co-owner Sam Gianelli. Is someone out to bankrupt G&W to acquire its invaluable cab medallions? Is the company a pawn in a Mafia vendetta, with Sam, the underboss’s son, the target? And who put that tiny microphone near G&W’s bathroom? Aided by a mysterious databank expert, Carlotta learns far more than she thought possible about “private” transactions. And she finds herself digging into Sam’s past, exposing secrets he’s kept hidden for years–secrets that begin to pull them further apart. As the investigation reaches its climax, Carlotta realizes, almost too late, that the mob may be just a fall guy in a very intimate crime.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Broadcast Driver Architecture (BDA) is a Microsoft standard for digital video capture on Microsoft Windows operating systems. It encompasses the ATSC and DVB standards and gives developers a standardized method of accessing TV tuner devices (usually PCI, PCIE or USB). It is the driver component of Microsoft TV Technologies, and is used by hardware vendors to create digital TV tuning devices for Windows, and also to support new network types or custom hardware functionality. BDA is documented in the Windows DDK (Driver Development Kit) and the Platform SDK. Ideally, any BDAcompliant software should be compatible with any BDAcompliant hardware. Applications using BDA drivers include Web TV for Windows (built into Windows 98 and Windows Me), Windows XP Media Center Edition, MediaPortal, GBPVR, DVBViewer, ULENet and several such other thirdparty solutions. Qualified Types: Theory and Practice

This book describes the use of qualified types to provide a general framework for the combination of polymorphism and overloading. For example, qualified types can be viewed as a generalization of type classes in the functional language Haskell and the theorem prover Isabelle. These in turn are extensions of equality types in Standard ML. Other applications of qualified types include extensible records and subtyping. Using a general formulation of qualified types, the author extends the Damas/Milner type inference algorithm to support qualified types, which in turn specifies the set of all possible types for any term. In addition, he describes a new technique for establishing suitable coherence conditions that guarantee the same semantics for all possible translations of a given term. Practical issues that arise in concrete implementations are also discussed, concentrating in particular on the implementation of overloading in Haskell and Gofer, a small functional programming system developed by the author. Hardware Component Modeling highlights the current status of the modeling of electronic components. It includes contributions from many of the leading researchers and practitioners in the field. The contents focus on four important topics. Standards: Three chapters describe current developments in employing standards for the use of component libraries. A major part of these chapters provides an excellent introduction to VITAL (an IEEE standard), its application and some of the issues in using and implementing it. There are, however, other standards with a role to play and these are also covered. Data Types: One chapter describes the latest techniques for using data types in modeling and simulation. Model Generation: One chapter describes a model generator for reusable component models and another describes a generator which takes actual physical data as its source and generates a functional model. Quality Assurance: Two chapters are devoted to improving the quality of models. One introduces a method for quantifying aspects of model quality and the other introduces quality concepts which can lead to an increase in model value through reuse and robustness. Hardware Component Modeling is a valuable reference for researchers and practitioners involved in the process of modeling electronic components. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Proprietary hardware is computer hardware which is owned by the proprietor. Historically, most early computer hardware was designed as proprietary until the 1980s, when IBM PC changed this paradigm. Earlier, in 1970s, many vendors tried to challenge IBMs monopoly in the mainframe computer market by reverse engineering and producing hardware components electrically compatible with expensive equipment and (usually) able to run the same software. Those vendors were nicknamed plug compatible manufacturers (PCMs). Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Hardware Architecture

Hardware Architecture

In engineering, hardware architecture refers to the identification of a systems physical components and their interrelationships. This description, often called a hardware design model, allows hardware designers to understand how their components fit into a system architecture and provides software component designers important information needed for software development and integration. Clear definition of a hardware architecture allows the various traditional engineering disciplines to work more effectively together to develop and manufacture new machines, devices and components.Hardware is also an expression used within the computer engineering industry to explicitly distinguish the hardware from the software which runs in it. But hardware, within the automation and software engineering disciplines, need not simply be a computer of some sort. A modern automobile runs vastly more software than the Apollo spacecraft. This textbook explains the basic principles of categorical type theory and the techniques used to derive categorical semantics for specific type theories. It introduces the reader to ordered set theory, lattices and domains, and this material provides plenty of examples for an introduction to category theory, which covers categories, functors, natural transformations, the Yoneda lemma, cartesian closed categories, limits, adjunctions and indexed categories. Four kinds of formal system are considered in detail, namely algebraic, functional, polymorphic functional, and higher order polymorphic functional type theory. For each of these the categorical semantics are derived and results about the type systems are proved categorically. Issues of soundness and completeness are also considered. Aimed at advanced undergraduates and beginning graduates, this book will be of interest to theoretical computer scientists, logicians and mathematicians specializing in category theory. The exponential increase in transistor density on computer chips, supporting Moore?s law now for four decades, poses new design challenges to engineers and computer scientists alike. New techniques for managing complexity must be developed if circuits are to take full advantage of the vast numbers of transistors available. This book investigates both the design of highlevel languages for hardware description and techniques involved in translating these highlevel languages to silicon. The author introduces the firstorder functional language SAFL, designed specifically for behavioral hardware description, and describes the implementation of its associated silicon compiler. Finally, the SAFL language is extended with picalculus style channels and channel passing and primitives for structurallevel circuit description. The semantics of these languages is formalized and results are presented arising from the generation of real hardware exploiting these techniques. This monograph is based on the author?s PhD work conducted at the Computer Laboratory of the University of Cambridge, UK, under the supervision of Dr. Alan Mycroft. Ambulance (Computer Virus)

Ambulance (Computer Virus)

$68.51

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Ambulance is a file infecting computer virus and it does not become memory resident. It will only infect one .COM file in any given directory, but will not infect the first one. This means there must be at least two .COM files in the directory for it to spread. Sometimes when an infected file is executed, an ASCII ambulance can be seen moving across the bottom part of the screen. A siren sound is also played from the systems speaker. Ambulance is not a destructive virus; it simply spreads itself around and shows off its payload once in a while. A computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer. The term virus is also commonly but erroneously used to refer to other types of malware, including but not limited to adware and spyware programs that do not have the reproductive ability. A true virus can spread from one computer to another (in some form of executable code) when its host is taken to the target computer; for instance because a user sent it over a network or the Internet, or carried it on a removable medium such as a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB drive.
